All you have to do is to log on to the e-commerce site, Tonic.com which is auctioning iPods autographed by celebrities and pre-loaded with their favorite songs. The New York Daily News reports that a total of 70 A-listers, right from actors to models to politicians are interested in this auction.

The earnings from these sales will benefit music programs in the Gulf Coast region which is ravaged by a hurricane. Some of the known personalities like the stars who have autographed these iPods are Mariah Carey, Faith Hill and Pete Wentz.

Apple is famous for its music players be it the iPod Touch, Shuffle or Nano. The second generation iPod Shuffle has been reviewed and it is the tiniest music player that has been ever created by Apple. It gives a very pretty and appealing look in light blue color. It is much slimmer than the early iPods and can easily fit as a coin in your pocket. The sound quality is good and it plays uncompressed AIFF and WAV files, MP3 files, AAC (MP4) files. It also minimizes the background noise.

Its docking mechanism is not compatible to the other iPods and it comes with a separate dock that plugs into the device. The other end has a USB connector that connects to the computer.

Fusion CA-IP500 iPod Receiver Still Has A Big Problem

Among the lot of mechanical-free iPod receivers, Fusion CA-IP500 has the latest entry. It looked easy to handle with its simplicity. It features an internal dock and when you open the faceplate, you can pop in your iPod and there you are off!

However, it was not as easy as it sounds, it still has problems. On closer study, it was found that while the internal dock of CA-IP500 does not need a USB or dock connector cables, it has a new problem while dealing with iPod of multiple sizes and designs with bulky adapter sleeves. It also doesn’t remember its place while searching for sonfs. The user has to re-scroll through the taxonomy several times.

Harman/Kordon’s Go+Play is still the one of the best portable iPod speaker systems. Its price tag of $350 had kept the most of the buyers away from this luxury boombox. Amazon has slashed $140 off the Go+Play’s price last week. Now, they are available at an affordable price of $210.

This is an older iPod accessory which might not charge or fit properly in the dock of the present Nanos, iPhones and iPod Touches. The reason for this sale is to remove the old stock and make room for an updated model with improved device compatibility. Still, these speakers sound very fantastic with an older iPod (even a recent iPod Classic will work).

Lecturing the Apple Way

An associate professor in the School of Public Health Sciences and Professions, Timothy Ryan, plans to match his lectures by giving out them to students equipped with iPod touches in his Introduction to Industrial Hygiene class this Spring Quarter. This audition run is a first at Ohio University. The lectures, which will be an amalgam of video and slides and have been specially set-up for the iPod touch, will come preloaded on the device. The students are expected to watch and review the lectures before class to allow for a better use of class time, Ryan said, adding that he can monitor whether students are watching them.

“When it is time for class, we are going to reorganize that time,” Ryan said. “It will be more engaging, more questions and answers and exercises. The talking at you has been done already.” Students will be able to give feedback at the end of the quarter on the effectiveness of Ryan’s trial when they return their iPods.Using the iPod as a learning device ushers in a new era of mobile learning, or “m-learning,” where the student can access the curriculum anytime, anywhere, Ryan said. He said he sees this as the next step in learning.

]It Seems Australian passengers will be the first to experience iPod and iPhone connections as part of cabin features when Singapore Airlines new A330-300 planes start flying from the end of March. The new planes will replace Boeing 777s flying from Singapore to Brisbane followed by Perth and then Adelaide from June. They will also be used on Japan routes. A ceremony to launch the Airbus delivery of the first of 19 estimated $US200 million ($A304.88 million) A330-300 aircraft to Singapore Airlines was held at the Airbus assembly plant in Toulouse last Wednesday.

It was not quite as big a sensation as the launch of the A380 and nowhere near as huge as Barack Obama's inauguration but still fairly big for both Airbus and Singapore Airlines, in what was described as troubled times for the travel and airline industries. Although the twin-engine plane delivered to Singapore Airlines is brand new, the model itself has been around since the early 1990s and Airbus has won more than 1000 orders for the various versions of the aircraft.
