iRemote? 04/15/2008

SpeakerCraft, one of the country's leading manufacturer of in-wall speakers is taking an unprecedented leap in home A/V technology.  They're launching an interface for their MODE multi-room A/V control system that lets the users command the system with their iPhone or iPod touch.  The iPod touch has now added wireless remote to its resume.

Imagine coming home, making a couple of taps on your iPod touch's screen, and the music is on.  The interface was designed to look like other iPod touch apps, allowing it to fit in with the music player's other functions.  Great.  Now you just need to get your house wired and you're good to go!

iPod Stickers 04/15/2008

After a long wait, the iPod nano (with video) arrived.  Maybe you were able to get a hold of one at your local Apple store, maybe you caught a slick deal on one of the cute little things on eBay.  After all the anticipation, you open the box up, pull the iPod out and think, "This needs...stickers."

Shufflesome Stickers has a line of stickers for the iPod nano (with video) created by artists from around the globe.  Fear not, the stickers only cover the metal back of the device.  The Shufflesome Stickers run for a little over $6 and you have over 20 prints to choose from.

April Fool's Day brought a flood of misleading videos and iPod rumors, but this seems to be legit.  By now you're probably familiar with the jailbreak concept that's sweeping the iPhone and iPod touch.  I guess it allows developers to create software and run software on the devices without having to wait for Apple's SDK to launch.

There's a video making the rounds that shows Quake 3 running on the iPod touch.  Actually, it's running on two.  No one seems to be sure what the origin of this is, nor how to get a hold of it for their own iPod touch, but it's still fascinating.  PSP, you might wanna watch your back.  IF this is real.

That David Beckham.  It's one thing to have the fame and adoration of millions of soccer (football) fans around the world.  It's gotta be great to be married to (arguably) the sexiest of all the Spice Girls, Victoria (aka Posh Spice).  But this...this just takes the cake.

What did Becks' teammates in England give him to celebrate his 100th national club appearance?  A gold plated iPod touch.  It must be nice to be rich and get expensive things for free.  Beckham's iPod has an estimated value of 600 English pounds (almost $1,200 bucks to you Americans) and just so happens to be the 32GB model, as if he's got time to appreciate it.  Okay, maybe I've just got a case of sour grapes.

iPod shuffles are amazing little gadgets.  All that music, no screen to crack, and so small that you can fit them in a box of cigarettes (maybe Virginia Slims if you have a 1st Gen).  The only real sticking point some is figuring out how to get your iPod shuffle to restore its factory settings.

You tried to have iTunes reset the little bugger, but to no avail.  Well, Apple just released the iPod Reset Utility 1.03 for the iPod shuffle.  It works with 1st and 2nd generation iPod shuffles, but beware - it will knock everything off your iPod, and I mean everything.  It's available for download from Apple now.  Make sure you know what you're doing before clicking OK.

The retail world (and Ebay) is filled with all sorts of after-market accessories for the iPod family of products.  The newest addition to the you-need-this-immediately-for-your-iPod line of products is the Jam Jacket.  For once, you might actually need it.

Digital Lifestyle Outfitters has designed silicone cases for the iPod touch and iPod nano that are durable and smooth-looking.  The cases have open access to all the jacks, ports and buttons of both models of iPod, as well as a clip and rubber coating for the iPod touch case.  Both Jam Jackets are available for $20 a pop.
